NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR NURSING RESEARCH

The collective power of nursing professionals defies the ability of the nurses to combine the experiences, knowledge that is related to analytical, technical as well as interpersonal domains to in the nursing practice to influences change processes in the medical field. Individual nurse joins up with other nurses to engage in patient care, leadership, administrative research and teaching to impact the lives of patients, organizations families, and various institution.

The roles of nurses in advocating for health care issues include writing proposals to the ministries of health as well as health organization on issues that affect the nursing field on behalf of the patients. The nurses use the powers bestowed upon them to make advocate for changes during financial pressure, looming workforce shortage, a change in patient population as well as improvement of patient safety. This will only work when the nurses make use of the powers through their unions to demand correction.

The roles of NINR in healthcare reforms

To begin with, the NINR is a body that deals with clinical researchers in the process of establishing a scientific basis that can be employed in nursing care as well as in the process of patient management during recovery and with an aim of reducing risks for disease and disability. To push for reforms, NINR funds nursing research works as well as research training. Such research involves patients care, conditions of nurses and payments and disease control, therefore through such research works funded by NINR effective guidelines are given according to the research findings.

The key concept that emerged from completing the activity is the use of social power in the medical field to advocate for medical reforms across the world. Forming this body was aimed at engaging individual nurses to find elaborate mechanisms of dealing with certain diseases as well as enhancement of willingness of patients to get quality health attention across the states.

This activity is important to me because, before the formation of such a body, certain research on medical procedures could not go to completion due to lack of funds. This body has since increase research activity to the nursing leading to a nursing field that taking into account patient-catered care. To the nursing, it has equipped the nurses with skills in handling clinical procedure, as well as help push for the nurses’ agendas such as payments and working conditions.

What I understand better after completing the activity is that social powers have led to the formation of a body that has contributed to saving lives of millions of patients not only in America but all over the world.

The element of social power in the display is a social democratic power, whereby the judicial system is involved in the forces of working towards the formation NINR. The social democratic power does not involve bloodshed in the process of pushing for reforms.
